What is Micro Needling?

Dermapen is a skin needling procedure that uses surgical grade micro-needles to create a controlled injury to the skin to start the body’s own repair process and create new collagen. It is used to treat wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, and other skin conditions. You will need a course of treatments to see sufficient results.

Contra-Indications to Dermapen:

• Keloid Scarring
• Hemophiliacs or any other Blood Disorders
• Cold Sores
• Active Acne
• Active Shingles or Chicken Pox
• Had Botox or Fillers done in the last month. (Wait at least 1 month before doing any treatments)
• Pregnancy/Breastfeeding
• Cortisone
• Roaccutane

What you can experience during the treatment:

Dermapen is virtually painless as an anesthetic cream will be applied onto the skin at least 45min – 60min before the procedure. You might experience pressure or a slight tingle on some areas. Areas where the bones are more prominent will be more uncomfortable.

The following can be experienced after a Dermapen treatment.

• Sensitive
• Tingling
• Swelling
• Itching
• Scabbing
• Bruising
• Pin point bleeding
• Dryness

Homecare advice for the next 5-7 days post Dermapen:

• No direct sun exposure for the next 48 hours
• Do not touch the skin for the next 48 hours as the skin’s channels are open and can cause infection if the skin is exposed to bacteria
• No exercise for the next 24 hours
• Do not scratch, pick or exfoliate the skin for the next 7 days
• Do not use any products containing Retinol, BHA, AHA, Glycolic acid or any other active ingredients 5 days before and 5 days after the treatment.
• Use skinbrite cream and post treatment balm
